The floors last for decades and can be sanded and refinished, but they can be placed in higher-than-usual moisture areas, unlike solid ones.

Look at flooring thickness
This determines the number of times a wood floor can be sanded and refinished for solid and engineered wood floors. Ideal for solid hardwood is a ¾-inch thickness and can be refinished up to six times. Engineered has a range of ⅜-inch to ½-inch and a more robust surface is better.
